Gundog Training
Positive, reward based training......
Gundog training is a fantastic way to train and enjoy your working breed whilst stimulating their natural instincts. It is not just for those who compete or shoot regularly but is ideal for those wishing to train their dog by working with their natural instincts.
Training this way creates a bond between you and your dog and allows you to harness your dog's natural ability.

Troubleshooting...
Most owners of gundog breeds chose them to suit an active lifestyle. Whether this is as a working/sporting dog or to keep up with an outdoor lifestyle hiking, exploring and adventuring.
Problems can arise when the dog develops his/her natural working instincts to hunt/chase and they are not managed correctly. Many clients do not feel they can let their spaniel, labrador or crosbreed off leash as they will ' run off' after birds, bunnies or sometimes even just an interesting smell!
This can result in very stressful walks for both dog and owners - whilst the dog is resigned to life on leash. If this sounds like you, then Pet Gundog Training is the way forwards.
During the first session we will discuss any questions you may have about your dog and find out what you would like to achieve or improve on. The lessons are then tailored accordingly and suit a range of ages from early puppy days onwards.
Frequently Covered in sessions are the following topics:
Chase drive - prey drive - recall - steadiness - appropriate excercise management - leash walking - distance control

Pet Gundog Puppy
This workshop is for those looking to get of to the right start with their Gundog puppy. We will look at encouraging natural behaviors that we wish to develop and work through management and preventing problems before they occur.
Gundog and other working breeds need noticeably more input and engagement than others breeds. They can be easily distracted by their environment when out and about and are unable to 'switch off' unless taught. The innate instincts of gundog breeds, especially those bred to hunt can develop into unwanted behaviors without breed specific training.
The aim of this course is to harness the natural abilities and enable you to work 'together' with your pup whilst learning some essential life skills and fun games.
Suitable for spaniels, retrievers, HPR and crosses intended for an active pet life or for working.
