Gundog training

Gundog training sessions cater to all owners of retrievers, spaniels and mixes regardless of prior experience or future goals.

My clients are categorised into Pet Gundog and Working Gundog,the foundations of training are the same but elements are tweaked to suit as we progress.

Likewise, training differs if your are looking to go beating with your dog vs picking up and again if you are aiming towards competitions.

Sessions here offer a real life environment conducive to training for live situations, whether your goal is a stress free walk with your dog or getting out in the shoot field.

Pet Gundog Training

Most owners of gundog breeds chose them to suit an active lifestyle. Whether this is as a working/sporting dog or to keep up with an outdoor lifestyle hiking, exploring and adventuring.

Problems can arise when the dog develops his/her natural working instincts to hunt/chase and they are not managed correctly. Many clients do not feel they can let their spaniel, labrador or crossbreed off leash as they will ' run off' after birds, bunnies or sometimes even just an interesting smell!

This can result in very stressful walks for both dog and owners - whilst the dog is resigned to life on leash. If this sounds like you, then Pet Gundog Training is the way forwards.

During the first session we will discuss any questions you may have about your dog and find out what you would like to achieve or improve on.

Alongside private sessions, I run multiple gundog training groups as and when you are ready. These are a fun friendly mix of working dogs and pet gundogs.

Working Gundog Training

For me, I enjoy shoot days primarily because I get to work my dogs. Mind you, its certainly most enjoyable when all of the training comes together and we have a successful day beating or picking up.

Alongside private sessions and foundations training, there are multiple skill specific workshops to build those essential aspects of a working gundog.

We have around 40 acres set aside for Gundog Specific training, including plenty of cover, as well as all of the necessary equipment. We have only been in our new premises since summer 2025 but have some exciting plans in the pipeline.
